Volunteer Opportunities

School Service Hours

Giant Steps provides the opportunity to satisfy high school or college service requirements while mentoring students, learning about autism and assisting professional Special Educators and Therapists. Flexible volunteer plans are available during school and camp hours.

Community Service Groups

Giant Steps has all kinds of short-term projects for corporate or community groups. Past projects have included painting the gym, preparing the school garden, and helping students make dog biscuits for their service learning program.

Events and Fundraising

Creativity, organizational skills, and thinking outside the box: community volunteers of all ages improve the lives of children with autism by lending their time and talents to Giant Steps' fundraising events. Many different projects, small and large, are available to fit the time and interests of volunteers.

Please call Giant Steps at (314)932-1051 for more information on volunteering.

Volunteer at Giant Steps!

From corporate service groups who come in for a one-day project, to parents who plan and present fundraising events, to high school students who mentor the Giant Steps kids, our program is strengthened by volunteers!

High School Volunteers and Giant Steps students bedecked in shaving cream

For high school students, the job description is simple: "Be a friend."

Each year, Giant Steps welcomes dozens of high school volunteers who pair with Giant Steps students to practice conversation skills, explore new interests, and just have fun.

Those who want insight into a particular discipline, such as Speech Therapy, OT, Music Therapy or Special Education, can spend some or all of their volunteer hours assisting in those classrooms.
