Families and School Districts
Giant Steps provides an alternative, center-based placement for students with autism spectrum disorders. Families and school districts turn to Giant Steps when a student needs intensive support to make academic progress. Admission is rolling; new students may start at any point in the school year.
When considering placement at Giant Steps, parents and school district staff are encouraged to tour the school. Call Giant Steps at (314)932-1051 to schedule a tour or an intake screening.
Giant Steps' school year follows a regular 176-day school calendar from mid-August to early June. Students attend from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with breaks for major holidays and school vacations. Extended-school-year services are available through the 6-week summer program, Camp Giant Steps.
Caseworkers
Giant Steps is a DMH-approved provider of Speech, Occupational and Music therapies and Recreation/Leisure Services.
Healthcare Providers
Beginning January 1, 2011, Giant Steps will offer Speech, Occupational and Applied Behavior Analysis therapies as prescribed in a medical treatment plan and covered by private health insurance.
